Tempress is a leading manufacturer of furnace deposition and diffusion solutions used in the manufacture of advanced coatings and devices with high added value. With a strong presence in the Netherlands, we continue to grow and have a vacancy for an entrepreneurial, action-oriented Chief Operations Officer (COO), who will play a pivotal role in the success and growth of the company.
As COO at Tempress you will provide operational leadership by working with the senior team to establish and implement near, medium, and long-term goals and objectives. You will oversee the company’s operations, ensuring resource alignment with business objectives. You will report to the CEO.
Your work location will be at our headquarters in Vaassen, the Netherlands. For the candidate to be successful, we find it essential for this role to be involved in daily activities and be in the office most days of the week.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all operational functions, including manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and quality management;
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement;
- Drive operational excellence by implementing best practices, optimizing processes, and leveraging technology;
- Oversee change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions while maintaining productivity and employee engagement;
- Work closely with the executive leadership team to align operations with business objectives and long-term growth strategies;
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and sustainability goals;
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify areas for cost optimization.
Tempress has a lean operating model with short lines of communication and the opportunity for employees to make a real impact. The role will be based on 40 hrs full time, with partial remote working up to 20% a possibility. Tempress offers a competitive salary package.
Your skills and experience:
The right candidate will have proven experience as a COO or in other managerial positions within the tech industry. Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and create a culture where trust and cooperation comes naturally. Excellent interpersonal skills while having a strong interest in technology, and bespoke manufacturing.
- Also, we are looking for a professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior operations leadership role within the tech industry, preferably semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing;
- Strong track record in leading and developing teams across multiple operational functions;
- Expertise in operational excellence methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and process optimization;
- Demonstrated experience in driving change management and business transformation;
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, collaborate effectively, and influence stakeholders at all levels;
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities;
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field.
